Introduction

Bangalore has long been known as India’s technology capital. Today, it is also becoming one of the country’s strongest hospitality markets.

The growth is not based only on the number of people visiting the city. Hotel room rates and business demand are also rising. Corporate travel, Global Capability Centres, technology companies, multinational investments, business events, and longer work projects are all supporting this growth.

According to the HVS ANAROCK Hotel Sector Performance report for May 2026, Bengaluru recorded the highest year-on-year growth in Average Room Rate, or ARR, among major Indian hotel markets. The city’s ARR increased by 15–17 per cent. The findings were also reported by BW Hotelier. The report clearly shows that the growth of Bangalore hotels is being supported by strong corporate and commercial demand.

Bengaluru leads major hotel markets

The May 2026 data places Bengaluru ahead of several other major cities. Pune recorded ARR growth of 11–13 per cent. New Delhi also saw positive growth in hotel rates. However, Bengaluru remained the strongest performer. Meanwhile, Mumbai recorded a fall of 5–7 per cent in ARR compared with the previous year.

This comparison is important. Mumbai and New Delhi have been major hotel markets for many years. Pune is also a strong business and technology centre. Still, Bengaluru recorded the highest room-rate growth among these cities. India’s hotel occupancy stood between 63 and 65 per cent. Revenue per available room, or RevPAR, increased by 22–24 per cent.

HVS report says India's national ARR growth was 8–10% YoY, while Bengaluru itself was 15–17% YoY. It shows that the city has strong demand and that travellers are willing to pay more for well-located rooms.

GCC expansion is increasing hotel demand

Corporate employees are discussing inside a modern GCC.

One of the main reasons for this hotel boom is the growth of Global Capability Centres, also known as GCCs.

Many international companies have opened large offices and technology centres in Bengaluru. These centres manage work in areas such as software, finance, research, data, engineering, cybersecurity, and customer support. The opening or expansion of a GCC creates regular travel. Senior leaders may visit from other countries. Employees may travel from different Indian cities. New teams may come for training. Consultants and vendors may stay near the office for several days.

As a result, hotels close to business areas receive steady bookings. Whitefield, Electronic City, Bellandur, Marathahalli, Outer Ring Road, Hebbal, and North Bengaluru are important locations for this demand. GCC travel is also different from one-time tourism. It can continue throughout the year. Hence, it gives hotels a more regular source of business.

A Strong technology and startup ecosystem

Bengaluru has a large number of IT companies, startups, research centres, and multinational offices. The city also attracts investors, founders, job seekers, consultants, and technology professionals. People visit the city for meetings, interviews, training programmes, product launches, and business discussions. Some stay for one night. Others stay for a week or longer.

This creates demand for many types of hotels in Bangalore. A senior executive may prefer a premium business hotel. A sales employee may choose a budget room. A project team may need serviced apartments for a longer period.Since Bengaluru has different types of business travellers, the city can support luxury hotels, mid-range hotels, budget hotels, and extended-stay properties at the same time.

Longer project-based stays

Many technology and consulting projects run for weeks or months. Employees may have to work from a client’s office during this period. Engineering teams may also travel for testing, installation, or training. Such travellers need more than a room for one night. They may look for laundry services, Wi-Fi, breakfast, a work desk, and simple food. Some may need a small kitchen as well.

Therefore, serviced apartments and long-stay hotels are growing in Bengaluru. These stays can be more practical for project teams. They can also help companies manage accommodation costs. Flexible stays are becoming popular too. Travellers can now book rooms for a few hours, a full day, overnight, or for several days. This gives hotels access to more types of guests.

MICE and Corporate events support growth

MICE refers to meetings, incentives, conferences, and exhibitions. Bengaluru has become an important destination for such events.

The city regularly hosts technology conferences, startup events, product launches, corporate meetings, trade shows, and employee programmes. These events bring visitors from India and other countries. A large conference can create demand for hundreds of rooms. Hotels may also earn from meeting halls, food, transport, and event services. Therefore, MICE business is valuable for the hospitality sector.

HVS ANAROCK noted that steady corporate movement and continued MICE activity supported hotel rates across India in May 2026. Bengaluru benefits strongly from both factors because of its large business base.

Multinational investment creates regular travel

Global companies continue to invest in Bengaluru. Some are opening new offices. Others are expanding existing teams or setting up research and development centres. Each investment brings different forms of travel. Company leaders visit before opening an office. HR teams travel for hiring. Technical teams arrive for training and setup. Clients and business partners also visit after operations begin. This demand is not limited to central Bengaluru. It is spreading towards Whitefield, Devanahalli, Yelahanka, Sarjapur Road, and other growing business areas. Therefore, new hotels are coming up in different parts of the city.

Leisure and staycations add another layer

Corporate travel is the main driver, but it is not the only reason for the boom.

Bengaluru residents are also taking short breaks within and around the city. Families and couples often book hotels and resorts for weekends, birthdays, anniversaries, and special occasions. People may choose luxury hotels in Bangalore for a staycation. These hotels may offer swimming pools, spas, restaurants, gyms, and event spaces.

The city is also a starting point for trips to Mysuru, Coorg, Chikkamagaluru, Kabini, and other destinations. Hence, travellers may stay in Bengaluru before or after their trip. Leisure demand becomes especially useful during weekends, when business bookings may be lower. It helps hotels serve guests throughout the week.

Hotels for different budgets and locations

The growth of Bengaluru’s hospitality sector is creating more choices for travellers.

Business leaders and international visitors may choose premium hotels near major office areas. At the same time, students, sales teams, families, and solo travellers may search for hotels under 3000 in Bangalore.

Location also matters. Air passengers often choose hotels near Kempegowda International Airport Bangalore, mainly for early departures or late arrivals. Train passengers may look for hotels near KSR Bangalore Railway Station for a simple and convenient stay. These hotel categories support the wider market. However, the main reason for Bengaluru’s hospitality growth is its strong and regular demand from business, technology, investment, events, and longer corporate stays.

Why Bengaluru's Hotel Market Stands Out

Bengaluru’s hotel growth is not driven only by tourism. The city receives different types of travellers throughout the year. GCCs and technology companies bring many business travellers. Meetings, conferences, and events also lead to group bookings. In addition, employees who visit for long-term projects may stay for several days or weeks. During weekends, families and couples book hotels for short breaks and stay cations. Hence, Bengaluru hotels do not depend on one travel season. They receive bookings from many sources across the year.

A Strong outlook for Bangalore Hotels

Bengaluru’s hospitality growth is supported by clear market evidence. The city recorded 15–17 per cent ARR growth in May 2026. This was higher than Pune, above the national ARR growth rate, and far stronger than Mumbai’s decline.

The HVS ANAROCK report linked this performance to sustained corporate and commercial demand. Bengaluru’s expanding GCC network, technology ecosystem, multinational investments, MICE activity, and project-based travel are giving hotels a steady flow of guests. Leisure trips and local staycations are adding further demand. Meanwhile, flexible booking options are helping hotels serve more types of travellers.

The best hotels in Bangalore may differ based on the guest’s budget, location, and reason for travel. However, the larger trend is clear. Bengaluru is no longer only India’s technology capital. It is now becoming one of the country’s most important hospitality hotspots.
