During a recent visit to Red Fox Hotel, Jaipur I came to know about a newly acquired property by the Lemon Tree Hotels under the Keys Select banner at Udaipur. So during an extended weekend in the month of May, I thought of trying it out as the distance of both Jaipur & Udaipur from my place of residence is more or less similar. Location: The property is located on the Golden Quadrilateral Road, which is currently undergoing expansion at various places. Nestled at the entrance of the Madri RICCO Industrial Area, this property is ideal for business travelers. Visitors to Udaipur will be well aware of the congested narrow roads and chock-o-block traffic made worse by unauthorized parking of vehicles. However, since this hotel is in a newly developed region, it is free from all such hassles. With various car showrooms, hospitals, and industries in the near vicinity, Keys Select will prove a welcome succor from the hue and din. For Tourists, it may not provide the Lake View but with Rapido, Ola and Uber, commuting between the Hotel and the old city should not be an issue. Property: The Hotel is huge by any standards. With a huge array of rooms of various configurations, 2 conference rooms, an in-house restaurant, gym, a soon-to-open Bar and all other facilities that any good Hotel should ideally possess, Keys Select should be a one stop solution for small parties, get-togethers, business meetings, conferences, etc. The icing on the cake is the roof-top Jacuzzi. First Impression: The first thing we noticed was the promptness displayed by the Guards manning the gate, unlike a robotic, customary Namaste and useless security check which we often come across at premium properties, they quickly let us in and offered to carry the luggage in. After parking our car in the safe confines of the hotel, we entered the cosy lobby with a large sit out area. The check-in by Prerna and Ankita was smooth and we were ushered into our room immediately, in-spite of the fact that we had reached the hotel around 11a.m., i.e. much before the usual check-in time. The luggage was delivered to our room promptly by the Front Office Executives with a smile that spoke volumes about their approach towards their job. During our 3 day stay at Keys Select, we came across many such instances, which made it abundantly clear that the work culture of the Hotel is non-threatening and that people enjoy their jobs. The credit for this goes to the General Manager, Mr. Bishnu Acharyay who I found to be very hospitable and always willing to go the extra mile for the success of the hotel. Rooms: During our stay, we had the opportunity to stay in the Regular as well as the Deluxe rooms both of which were equally large and tastefully fitted out. The Deluxe room had a beautiful sit out area. Being a new property (inaugurated in March 2024), everything about the hotel was brand new. The amenities provided were top class, as was the sleep quality. The spic and span washrooms were large enough with separate bath enclosures. Everything from the wallpapers, the photo frames, and the curtains to the fabric of the chairs had a classy appeal, not too loud. Contd.

The place is decent, breakfast buffet was vegetarian, limited in terms of dishes but the taste was pretty good. The staff of the hotel is helpful and very sweet. The only drawback is the distance from the city, as it's not near the city centre.

Restaurant: The in-house restaurant, Keys Café is spacious and can accommodate quite a gathering without being too crowded. In-spite of being a Pure Vegetarian restaurant, there is a huge variety on offer, with quite a few healthy options. During our stay, we were treated to some of the most authentic cuisine prepared by Chef Sahu. One cannot help but ignore the most important factor, i.e., the quality of service rendered by Alok, Ashish and Manish which was the crowning glory. The energy and grace of Alok, promptness and humility of Ashish are what make great establishments. Due to less occupancy during our stay, we were given the option to order from a Set Menu which consisted of quite a few starters, welcome drink, 5-6 main course items, and dessert. The request for a change of the paneer dish was promptly taken care of. For breakfast too, there were 8-10 options along with tea, coffee and fruit juices. We ordered only Puri Bhaji and Masala Dosa after having which, we were tempted to speak to Chef Sahu regarding the ingredients of the Bhaji, as it was simply out of this world. The in-house prepared cookies and piping hot, fresh muffins were a class apart. Every item was freshly prepared, and portions were more than enough. It is usually said that the best way to a man’s heart is through his stomach, this holds true in the case of Keys Café. Initially, when I learned that Keys Select is a vegetarian-only property, I was a bit disappointed, but after trying out the various items in Dinner and Breakfast, I was completely in awe and never once regretted the fact. Housekeeping: In spite of being in the heart of the industrial area and on an under construction road, the property was spick and span. The prompt response of the electrical team to a minor issue was appreciable. If Keys Select reaches great heights of success in the near future, which it surely will, it will certainly be on account of its team members like Alok, Ashish, Ankita, Prerna and Chef Sahu under the able patronage of Mr. Bishnu. I am looking forward to my next stay at this property in the third week of June.
