Stayed here for a night during Coldplay weekend at Ahmedabad. One of the very few 4* places that hadn't hiked their prices to the moon, especially considering we were late to book. Stayed in the heritage suite, which was extremely spacious and well decorated. The hotel is a restored royal bungalow, so the aesthetic is amazing Vintage furniture and fixtures if you're into that stuff Bed was comfortable, bathroom was clean More than enough space for an extra bed since we were a group of 3 ACs were powerful, only thing to note is the toiletries provided were not sufficient and the room service can be a bit delayed. Nothing that can't be fixed It's not in a posh locality, but it is central- 2km from train station, bus stand and the metro red line. It's a bit loud on the street, but rooms are sound-proofed. Overall a wonderful stay with friendly staff, different from the usual luxury properties

Colonial style property which has many of the original features. Host is very good Outside is typical india slums and poverty had dinner at the hotel down the road where Ghandi visited. dinner (not with Ghandi) People on streets are exceptionally friendly wanting to know where are u from Beautiful walled arches from when the city was walled I would stay again

Amazing place! Palace like feels. My stay there was very pleasant. They have the option of lunch and dinner provided to you at your room since there is no restaurant at the place. You can always swiggy food since the cost per person at the hotel is a little pricy. The rooms are huge and aor conditioned. There is a big balcony attached. Over all a great experience:)

The place is kind of like a museum. Food is nice and expensive. Surrounding area is not posh/residential. Beds and chairs etc are old and hard. Amenities like ac, plumbing, remote etc are somewhat functional. It's somewhat scary. And somewhat safe. There are some nice coffee table books. This stay cured me of any desire to 'live in the past'. For the same price you can stay in regenta or something. This place has less comfort and more space. There are some sparrows in the courtyard garden.

For corporate road warriors - the 4-5* hotel room is usually a boring featureless experience which can be in any country at any time. Combine that with soul destroying corporate travel policies - you’re lucky if you get breakfast. Staying in Airbnb is an option but it’s a bit too hit and miss for me. So this time I revolted against the option of staying in the gift city and decided to stay in this heritage. Landed at stupid o clock from Abu Dhabi and checked in at 5am. The Bakelite switches, the bellboy carrying my suitcase up the narrow wooden stairs, and then this extraordinary room (it’s actually cheaper than staying in the gift city hotels!). It’s a converted royal bungalow deep inside the old city. I was too shagged to see much and grabbed some shut eye. Was woken up by the typical early morning India city sounds of mynahs, crows, vividh Bharti, horns beeping, a cow mooing, and a mother vociferously shrieking at her progeny in Gujarati about some heinous crime. You just wake up with a nostalgic smile no? And then life got so much better. Beautifully restored, the jharoka windows were beautiful. The wardrobe was decorated with wooden pietra dura work and lions feet. The tapestries were exquisitely detailed and I fell in love them. The chandelier was so beautiful and whilst I doubt it’s that old, it’s clearly based on Mughal glass. Remind me one day to talk about it. This Indian art is not that well known and very little survives. Then you have the door with the wooden jambs, a cast iron hasp with a whacking big thick brass padlock (no electronic key shite here). A terrace seen from the window where long somnolent summer holiday mornings would be spent listening to the bees before the sun and Ma’s bellowed imprecations would drive you out of the terrace bed. A reasonable breakfast of fruit, poha, masala omlette, and aloo paratha served in a casserole. You can’t get any more Indian than casseroles. And I spotted an old tin basin and ewer in the corner - one with a soap dish and filter integrated. Place is highly recommended. I’m looking forward to the next 2 days here.
